JOG the Web: Ohio’s In-Demand Industries

07/3/2024

Here’s How JOG Prepares Students for the Future of the Workforce!

One of our main goals at Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates is to ensure students are able to be work ready to go into industries in which they are interested and can build a career with a good paying job. We do this through Career Specialist mentorship to help establish a pathway for the participant based on what they like and where their skills lie. The Career Specialists also try to help them match these skills to growing and in demand industries to improve our students’ chances of job placement and growth.

Here in Ohio, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services has released an outlook on what the top 10 industries they believe will have the strongest trend towards growth between 2018-2028.

1.      Healthcare & Social Assistance

2.      Food Services

3.      Transportation

4.      Technical Services

5.      Management of Companies & Enterprises

6.      Waste Services & Management

7.      Finance & Insurance

8.      Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation

9.      Educational Services

10. Real Estate

Most of these industries need some kind of work readiness training. Like a four-year degree, vocational training, a certification, or an unpaid training program like an apprenticeship. But, often people don’t know how to get the training that they need to enter these industries. At JOG, this is where we excel. We know that getting participants ready for life after school is the best way to prepare for the future. We do this by connecting them directly to training for their prospective industry. JOG partners with employers in these industries across our five-county footprint to make sure our youth have the best opportunities available. We work hard to stay ahead of the curve and our ongoing relationships within communities across Ashland, Medina, Stark, Summit, and Trumbull Counties are the best way for us to do so.

If you are between 16-24, the first step to getting into one of these industries is to reach out to JOG today. We are happy to talk to you or anyone you think would be a good fit for the JOG program. Just click the button below to get started!
