Student Success Story: June 2024 Graduation

07/1/2024

Join Us in Celebrating our June 2024 Graduates!

Twice a year, JOG hosts a graduation ceremony for our out-of-school students who wouldn’t have the opportunity to walk the stage otherwise. This normally happens in June and December, the end of the school year and the end of the calendar year. We are so proud of our students who have been working on their GED and to highlight their hard work, so to highlight their achievement, we put on our very own graduation ceremony at our Summit County office!

This ceremony is led by the Summit County out-of-school specialists, Monique Jones, and Adam Krankowski who have been working with the students throughout their road to graduation. After the students complete their GED tests, they inform their Career Specialist, and once there is a minimum of 5 students who complete their GED test, we host the ceremony. Our June 2024 graduation was lucky enough to have 8 graduates: Janese, Darius, Kayla, Raigan, Era, De’Asyah, Quintin, and Terrance.

During this ceremony, Monique discussed their journeys to this point; what they overcame, their points of growth and ultimately, overcoming everything that stood in their way. This turned into a reflective moment by Director of Programming, Pamela Crombie. She took the podium and reflected with our graduates on how “your past doesn’t define you” and that your future begins today. As this speech settled with the graduates, they were welcomed to stand for a round of applause and to throw their caps into the air.

After the ceremony concluded, the graduate families all enjoyed refreshments and took photos to celebrate this moment. From groups of graduates celebrating their accomplishment, to photos with impactful Career Specialists, and of course, photos with their parents, siblings, and children, graduates made sure to capture these memories with the people most important to them. We at JOG know that it is important to celebrate your milestones as you shoot for the stars, and we are happy to provide a way for our students to take a moment to reflect on this major accomplishment.

We are very proud of the heights our graduates have accomplished, and we are excited to see what the future holds for these accomplished young men and women!
