A key part of our goal here at Tri-County Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates (JOG) is to help youth overcome barriers to success, especially in future careers. We strive every day to be known as a “one-stop success shop,” offering a holistic continuum of guidance, leadership development, social services, and employment opportunities to prepare the next generation of in-school and out-of-school youth, ages 14 to 24, for success at work, at home and as leaders in their communities.

Part of the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) model is hosting a yearly career knowledge-readiness competition called the Career Development Conference (CDC). This year at JOG, there are eight total competitions with seven taking place at the event itself. Those seven are: Knowledge Bowl, Career Preparation, Employability Skills, Financial Literacy, Prepared Speaking, Students for Service, and Decision Making. The eighth competition is Cover Design, which gives students the chance to design the cover of the CDC program. These competitions give participants the ability to show off what they have learned through friendly competition. All competitions are evaluated by judges, and the first-place winners have the chance to go to the national JAG CDC. To read more about the Career Development Conference, please click here.

In addition, the JOG program supplies career opportunities to our youth is through the Career Expo we host in conjunction with the CDC competitions. During this expo, students are given the chance to interact with real-world employers looking for employees in fields they are looking to go into. From military to colleges and a variety of entry-level positions, there will be a plethora of options of pathways for our JOG students.

If you are interested in attending our 2023 Career Expo as an employer, please click here to sign up for the opportunity to meet with 350 job-ready JOG participants.
