JOG the Web: JOG as a Part of JAG

5/5/2023

Since our inception in 1987, Tri-County Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates (JOG) has worked as an affiliate of, and close partner to, Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG). Though we function independently as our own organization, we work with JAG to gain a foundation for how we can achieve our own success here in Ohio, making sure that we meet (or exceed) their criteria for success.

Because of our affiliation and our closely related names, people often confuse JOG with JAG and other combinations: Jobs for America’s Graduates – Ohio, JAG Ohio, Jobs for America’s Graduates Ohio, JAG Akron, and JAG Medina. Since some of our other fellow affiliates are named in this way like “Jobs for America’s Graduates – Louisiana,” it’s not surprising that our name could be mistaken this way. Our similar names just show our close connection to JAG, and we appreciate the support and guidance we receive from our national affiliation.

A driving factor to how we can maintain our educational standards is actually through the JAG model of instruction. This model boils down to 10 key parts: Classroom Instruction, Competency-Based Instruction, Project Based Learning, Trauma Informed and Caring Adults, Advice and Support, Employer Engagement, Student-Led Leadership Development and Experience, Accountability, Job and Post-Secondary Education Placement Services, and 12-Month Follow-Up Services. These 10 services help grow our participants by meeting them where they are and shaping them into the leaders of tomorrow in our workforce.

One way we show our continued dedication to the JAG Model is through our 6-for-6 national standard. For 28 consecutive years, JOG has met or exceeded these standards to promote academic success, employability, and career readiness.

JOG 6-for-6 Statistics from June 2022:

- 92% of students graduated high school (JAG Standard 90%)

- 80% of students secured job placement (JAG Standard 60%)

- 79% of students obtained full-time jobs (JAG Standard 60%)

- 82% of students experienced positive outcomes (JAG Standard 75%)

- 42% in further education, like post-secondary, or apprenticeships

(JAG Standard 35%)

- 97% Connectivity rate, (the percent of participants JOG is able to contact post successful) exit (JAG Standard 95%)

We are proud to be a part of JAG! Our own growth over the last 36 years is, in part, due to the JAG process. By being able to go off of these national standards, we have been able to shape the future of Ohio and we look forward to helping more participants along their journey to academic and career successes.
