Connect With Over 300 Students at the 2024 JOG Career Expo!

Career guidance, exploration and advancement is the backbone of what we do at JOG. We work hard to connect our youth with opportunities in fields they want to build a future in. We strive every day to be known as a “one-stop success shop” of career guidance, work readiness programs, and employment opportunities to prepare the next generation of in-school and out-of-school youth, for success at work, at home and as leaders in their communities. One of our annual hands-on ways we do this is through our Career Development Conference and Career Expo!

At the JOG Career Expo, we offer students the opportunity to engage with real-world employers across a plethora of industries. This ranges from jobs participants can jump into today like manufacturing, to careers that need extended training like nursing or other healthcare positions. Undecided or unsure students are also encouraged to interact with all of the different employers to see what interests them. We recognize that not all students know exactly what they want to be after high school and this is a great way to discover what they are interested in!

Students aren’t the only ones who benefit, however. This event is a great opportunity for employers and local organizations to connect with local youth to talk about their field. This could look like a basic rundown of a “day in the life”, or talking to students about what they have to do to be prepared for a job in their field (i.e. education requirements). It could even be as big as on-the-spot interviews for students who are interested in the employer’s respective field. Employers who have attended the event in the past have said that they had a great time and that the students in related pathways that they talked to have seemed engaged and interested in their companies[TP1] . Outside of employers, we also offer the option for community-based organizations to attend. These options are there for students to talk with those who can help connect them with resources they may need.

If you are interested in getting connected with over 300 youth to share your career pathways, click the button below to sign up to attend. Or, if you are a community-based organization we would love to have you there to talk about your resources with our students.

The deadline to sign up is March 13th, so don’t delay!
